Plus 2,77,000 number of cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 7,745 number of deaths in India. These are the coronavirus statistics as of today. By the time you read this post, the numbers would have changed again drastically. The first coronavirus case in India, was reported in January and the number has only gone up since then jus. The curve has taken a very steep increase and seems to be on the rise for now. In this pandemic situation and the two-month long lockdown has resulted in people belonging to low-income families losing all their means of income and previous savings. As a result, they are left on the streets in search of two meals a day. Precautions for this pandemic requires that you use sanitizers, wear masks and gloves and practice social distancing.
The elderly are at significant risk, as they are more susceptible to diseases and their immune system is already frail. Guidelines mandate people above 60 years of age to strictly stay inside and practise the utmost caution. What about the elderly who are destitute, forgotten, and abandoned by their children. Who would inform them about the precautions they need to exercise and how they can save themselves.
For families with no income and cannot feed their child even a single meal in a day wearing a mask or practicing social distancing naturally takes a step back because, for them, the fear of coronavirus is overpowered by the fear of dying out of hunger. We at iCFDR have been trying to solve this problem by distributing essential ration kits to people belonging to low-income families so that we can alleviate the problem of hunger.
However, in the light of recent events where we all see how the number of cases is increasing every day, the need for protecting oneself against this virus has become the need of the hour. According to the WHO guidelines using a facial mask is one of the best ways to protect yourself against the coronavirus. It protects your entire face along with the eyes, nose and mouth which are the main entry points for the virus to enter your system.
We plan on distributing such face shields to all the disadvantaged children and the elderly to ensure that just because they are poor they do not lose out on ways to protect themselves. We are organising a crowd fundraising campaign so that we can distribute the face shields to as many people as possible and save the maximum number of lives is that we can. If you want to help us save more lives, feel free to contribute whatever amount you can to the link given below. Your contribution is crucial to the lives of multiple people. Every penny that is donated may help save one more life.
